Joanna Cave - Jewelry Jewelry Jewelry!!

We got in a new brand of jewelry at Foundation and I am in LOVE with it. Gorgeous stuff - wish I could afford it! Check it out at http://www.joannacave.com/home.aspx!

On the jewelry note, I also really love this Alexis Bittar Ring. Gorg!

Okay... why I am on the topic of amazing jewelry, I also really want this watch... my Dooney and Bourke's battery just died... I realize it would make most sense to replace the battery, but you can't blame me for looking!
Its WeWood, retails at 79 pounds. By the way... did I mention that these brands are ethical? In case you forgot sustainability can be fashionable...

Spring has sprung!

I hope this weather is here to stay! It has been beautiful the last week - no jacket needed and some days just a tank top. Of course, with that I inevitably got sick and had to spend one of the days in bed... but it is still nice to have spring clothes out!

A French Connection jumpsuit, Urban Outfitters blazer, Vintage Belt, Betsey Johnson necklace and H&M scarf
I was able to wear this sweater without a jacket, it was a little warm in the office though...

Strategic Repair

I have had this project about taking an old garment I like and working with someone within my community I didn't previously know to repair it.  I had an old red blazer from the 80s/90s that had been my moms. I always loved the bright red but it didn't fit right, I didn't ever wear it. I met a girl near where I live who is a tailor and we worked to make it something new. I don't have the professional photos yet, but here are a couple images of the photo shoot!

Me at the shoot...

I meant to take a better shot of my new shoes but forgot. They are Miista SS11 and I LOVE them. :)

Happy St Patricks Day!

Celebrate the season with green beer and green clothing! Here is just a little inspiration to get you going (more to come later today) :)

Varsity jackets and school uniforms

School in the UK is different from school in the US, for one you graduate earlier and have the opportunity to have a gap year before university - that would be thought of entirely differently in the US. But the biggest different I notice? Uniforms. All the school kids are in uniforms. I must say, the little boys look quiet dapper in them. It has brought back my appreciation of a simple v-neck sweater, yet, I don't have one. Recently though, from runway to high street I keep seeing varsity jackets. Some remind me of the old style, some have a newer leather edge, and other remind me of windbreakers from the 90s that I think my grandma still wears. It is a style I would love to wear; classic but unique. Makes me wish I was in Minnesota so I could steal my sisters old letter jacket!

The following images are from style.com

Reminds me of a red plastic biker jacket I was in love with when I was about 10. I will always love anything shiny. Escada.

Classic baseball jacket, similar to todays varsity jackets. Topshop.
Would you have guessed this is Nike? An easy to wear take on the style.

Missing the Sunshine

It is about that time of year when I wish I was back in high school and about to go on spring break with my family. A Mexican resort, the pool, the ocean, homemade guacamole, plenty of sun and a good tan... ooo if only....
I was reminiscing and looking at photos, but then I saw this one from my parents backyard. May not be Mexico, but definitely a great day in the sun playing with my nephew in the water.

Parisian Scarf

A couple weeks ago I bought a Parisian scarf from a vintage shop. I wasn't sure how I would wear it but I really liked it so I bought it. Here it is today!

Scarf: Vintage Paris, Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft, Shirt: H&M

Rainy Day London

Today I had my outfit all picked out but then I woke up, looked out the window, and decided it was to rainy for my bright spring outfit. So I went for a comfy sweater, shorts, and fur coat. The hubby was home so I had him snap a photo, which means I didn't look at the picture until I got home tonight and I am not sure if it is the outfit or the photo, but it looked better in my mind. Oh well, you win some you lose some. I still love these earrings though! I didn't realize it made it look like I have pink in my hair, but I like it. :)
Coat: Weatherproof, Sweater: DKNY, Necklace: Vintage (aka my moms), Tights: Vera Wang for Kohls, Shoes: Ellen Tracy, Hat: Urban Outfitters

Necklace or Headband... Whats the Difference?

Recently I have been thinking a lot about the idea of necklaces as headbands. It started when I saw a girl wearing this amazing headpiece and I thought,'huh... I have a necklace kind of like that...' but I instantly forgot about it in the rush of school, work, and everything else in life. Then my 2 year old nephew re-inspired me and now I can't get past the idea.
I believe this actually is a head piece, but I love it. The photo is by Tommy Ton (style.com)
Some personal inspiration for me.... :)
I hope my sister doesn't mind I posted this, but it is so dang cute! And good fashion sense at a young age...
And on Penny Chic they prove it can be done. This necklace is from no other than Walmart!
Thats my thoughts for now. I think I may give it a try. What do you think? Necklaces as head pieces?

Working from home

So I have this routine. I work Mon, Tuesday, then go to class all day wednesday, work Thursday, and Friday-Sunday are my days to do my masters work from home. Quiet the routine right? Well, Fridays I am always hanging out by myself just really trying to get things done, cleaning, homework, and often a grocery run or something similar. Even if you aren't doing much you still want to like your outfit right? Well, this is a super-comfy but fun outfit I love.
The shirt is organic cotton from H&M, pants are O'Neil, necklace was my moms, sunnies are Raybans.

Dresses in layers

Recently I went to a boutique sale where independent designers were selling their last seasons designs.  All of the clothing was small production runs and a lot of it was one of a kind.  I met the woman who had these amazing prints that she uses on dresses and they have become pretty popular in London - I know why, they are amazing prints!  This is actually a wrap dress, and although wrap dresses don't completely suit my style I couldn't not buy it, so I wear it as a cape/robe over other outfits. Pop! of Color

Whether a little or a lot, I am ready for color. I don't need it to be summer to add it in though!
