Ethical Fashion in the Age of Austerity

On Thursday night I went to Ethical Fashion in the Age of Austerity at the V&A Museum of Childhood. Some of my friends seemed much less thrilled by it than I was... but that is okay. I got there before they had so bought a glass of fairtrade wine and did a loop of the market area.  There were all sorts of local craftspeople selling beautifully handmade garments, hats, and accessories, as well as a couple brands I am aware of from other ethical and fairtrade events.
My friend Yolanda and I made coin purses out of juice boxes which was actually really fun, I think I might try and make more or improve the one I made to look a little nicer, but I really enjoyed it! Then we went to a station where we could make stuffed foxes. They were very cute pillows basically that you could make out of various fabrics. I chose floral for the front and striped for the back. Unfortunately the event closed before we finished so I brought the materials home and will have to finish here. I will post a picture once it is complete!
I stopped by the Pants to Poverty booth largely because they looked like they were enjoying themselves. Although, I suppose you would need to be goo natured to stand around selling underwear in your underwear. It was fun to chat with them a little but even better when I found out they were selling left over stock for 5pounds a piece or 3 for 10. Well shout, you won me over. I bought these in the yellow and also a pretty teal green and then a pair of briefs for Nick (which he was less than thrilled by). Oh well, I liked them!
